What some may not realize is that a school's culture must extend far beyond academic excellence. At Fairview Glen Montessori, their aim is to develop the whole person, instilling a lifelong system of core values and a love for learning. While Fairview Glen welcomes parents to visit and experience first hand its exceptional Montessori education throughout the year, their Spring Open House on Thursday May 12th, provides families a wonderful opportunity to explore its gorgeous classrooms and brand new gymnasium. Between 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., guests will be able to tour the school and have an opportunity to meet the teachers that create such a charismatic learning environment. "The culture of the school plays a key role in establising a cohesive community. Children are treated with dignity and core values such as empathy and integrity are emphasized. It is an essential part of the education process, in addition to academic excellence," says Tammy-Leigh Sage, School Director. "In our methodology it is necessary to achieve a balance that will maintain respect for the nature of childhood and the natural learning process." Accredited by the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) Fairview Glen provides the assurance that it adheres to the authentic philosophy and methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori and follows all best practices for Ministry standards. With carefully prepared child-centred environments and mixed age groupings from Toddler to Grade six, each child has the opportunity to progress at his/her own pace in a concrete material-based program that encourages freedom, responsibility, co-operation and collaboration.
