The marathon, on Saturday, April 30 begins at 11 a.m. at Glen Abbey United Church and will run for approximately four hours. Admission to the marathon is free, however donations will be collected for the Global Friends Foundation in lieu of an entry fee. Providing clothing, educational support in the form of scholarships, health supplies and shelter, the Global Friends Foundation strives to remove the barriers imposed by poverty in developing countries. The organization supports orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as the people who care for them. The fundraising marathon is open to members of the public and in addition to Julieta, participants will be able to work out with other highly respected and well known Zumba instructors, making the event not only a great way to help make a difference, but also a great work out with excellent instructors. As a native of Colombia, Julieta Tabares grew up with Salsa, Merengue and a variety of other dances and music for which Colombia is well known. "It's rewarding to see people getting into shape as they enjoy dancing to fantastic music," said Tabares. "Being in shape is more about what is inside, where the heart is working. Most of my clients don't even realize that they are exercising because the music and dance are so much fun." With multiple certifications, including being a certified personal trainer, a group fitness trainer, a nutrition and wellness specialist and being trained to work with kids, adults, and seniors, Julieta Tabares has the experience to incorporate a wellbalanced routine with a flair for fun.
