www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, February 25, 2016 | 40 Bullying Ends Here, students at WOSS hear during educational presentation Tad Milmine, a police officer with the Calgary Police Service, travels the country to prevent bullying. He's created a presentation called Bullying Ends Here, an anti-bullying educational program that he brings to schools across Canada. His presentation made a stop at Oakville's White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS) last Thursday (Feb. 18) to help spread the message that bullying needs to end to Grades 7-9 students. The one-hour presentation for youths, and adults, is aimed at all forms of bullying, including cyber-bullying, and was created after the suicide of Jamie Hubley, who was relentlessly bullied for years. According to bullyingendshere.ca, the Health "Connected to your Community" program spreads the message of acceptance and understanding. During his presentation, Milmine shared Hubley's story and his own, particularly of the abuse and neglect he suffered at home. Milmine's story was published in his book, Bullying Ends Here: My Life, which goes into detail about his struggles growing up and how he persevered to achieve his dream of becoming a police officer, according to the book's website. Milmine's presentation at WOSS came days before the recognition of Pink T-Shirt Day (Feb. 24) -- an awareness campaign aimed at ending bullying in schools, workplaces, homes and online. It is recognized by people wearing pink on the day.
