Hawtin was a Paralympic hopeful in wheelchair racing before surgery forced her out of the sport in 2012. She made her debut with the national wheelchair basketball team last year, helping Canada win gold at the world championships. Canada will face Guatemala tomorrow, Mexico Sunday and Brazil Tuesday in preliminary-round action. Medal games are scheduled for next Friday. All games will be contested at the Ryerson Athletic Centre in Toronto. Rock trails Peterborough 2-0 in MSL series The Oakville Rock nds itself in a 2-0 hole in its rst-round Major Series Lacrosse playoff series, following a 12-8 loss to the Peterborough Lakers Wednesday at Oakville's Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. Oakville scored the rst two goals of Wednesday's contest before Peterborough answered with six consecutive markers, holding the Rock scoreless for nearly 24 minutes. The Rock twice pulled to within two goals in the second period, but could not get any closer. Oakville was led offensively by Jeremy Noble (three goals) and Brett Hickey (three assists). Brenden Thenhaus added a pair of goals, and Ian Mackay, Jordan Critch and Wes Berg also tallied. Peterborough's Shawn Evans scored ve goals and also recorded three assists.
