I am a resident in the Coronation Park area, and wanted to submit a letter with regards to the temporary no parking signs that the Town of Oakville put up on my street and every street surrounding Coronation Park as a result of the Oakville Children's Festival. I think it's just horrible these signs are going up. What is the Town of Oakville thinking? It holds events to try and make a great community and to positively impact the town's economy and then doesn't allow potential visitors an opportunity to park near the festivities on the many streets that could provide ample parking. I live near Coronation Park and would welcome cars parked in front of my house for this event. There are only one or two events like this each summer held at the park, so it's not a daily inconvenience for those in the area. I would Parking fees hinder tourism: resident 7 | Friday, July 24, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com assume one of the reasons that people like me purchased homes in this area is because of its location, and proximity to parks and the lake, so they should welcome the odd weekend of cars parked in front of their homes. Yes, I know that there are people in the area who do not feel the same as I do, and put rocks or other obstructions on the roadside grass to discourage people from parking in front of their homes... and to them I would say, "Embrace this community, stop being so crotchety or move to the country." It would be nice to see the town make decisions for once that support tourism rather than a fast cash grab from what I assume will be many parking tickets the weekend of the Children's Festival. As they say you can't have your cake and eat it too. So Oakville what's it going to be? The only way to counteract a group like this, one that is so cowardly that they hide behind the avoidance of contact and reciprocal dialogue, is to turn the tables on them -- those who are upset with their methodology should make it well known that the exact opposite action to their propaganda will be carried out... and that every pamphlet they deliver will result in a deliberate vote for any political party to which they are opposed.
