FORAN, Mary "Myra" passed away at Ian Anderson House in Oakville on Friday, July 26,2002 peacefully, and surrounded by her children. Beloved wife of the late Reginald Foran She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Fitzpatrick of Oakville, Lynda Foran of Vancouver and Patricia Foran of California, her son, Roger Foran and wife Maria of Toronto. She w ill be dearly missed by her grandchildren Jessica, Derek and Shaun Fitzpatrick of Oakville, Andre Cabral of Toronto, and Tim Griffin of San Diego. Born in 1918 in Douglastown, Que., one of eight children born to Stella and Clifford Morris. She is survived by her dear brother Graham Morris of N.B., siste rs E lsie C h ic o in e of Prevel, Que., Edna Underwood of M ontreal, and L ila Letteau of Los Angeles. She is Pre-deceased by her parents, loving sister H ectorine Kennedy, and brothers Leonard Morris and Leslie Morris. A former resident of Montreal and parishioner of St. Aloysius Church there, Myra was a longtime teacher who began her fo rty year career in a one room schoolhouse in Grand Cascapedia, Que., the town where she had met her dear husband, Reggie Foran. After his untimely death at 36, Myra went on to teach elem entary school in M ontreal and reached the pinnacle of her success when the Montreal Catholic School Commission named her Teacher of the Year. Myra moved to Oakville in 1978 due to her failing health. There she lived with her daughter Valerie Fitzpatrick and her family until she died; 3 months shy of her 84th birthday. Her dear daughter Valerie's tender love, care and devotion for over 23 years eased Myra's life and gave her the added enjoyment of grandchildren. The untold pleasure she received from each of them filled her final years with joy. Her granddaughter Jessica w ill soon fo llo w in her G ran d m o the r's rem arkable footsteps as she enters Trent University's Education Program this September. Myra was a unforgettable lady of great courage and compassion. She had a great love for life, her dear husband Reggie, her family and her God. She endured the most severe trials with a calmness, fortitude and resignation. Myra had an unquenchable thirst for the knowledge which she bequeathed to her children. She left an undeniable lasting impression on all who met her. Myra is now at peace and happy now that she has been reunited with those waiting to greet her. Her spirit remains in our hearts and memories. To our Mother and Grandma, We love you. V is ita tio n was held 7 -9pm Tuesday, J u ly 30 at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home. 64 Lakeshore Rd W Oakville. Cherished father of sons George and Otta. Father-in-law of Lynda. Grandfather of Doane. B rother-in-law of Eda, Dasa and Vlada. Uncle of Frank, Mia and Martin. Patriarch of the Hanus-OttaRydlo fam ilies in Canada, and of relatives in the Czech Republic and Germany. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1919 he lived through troubled and turbulent times in this new and young republic with an encouraging future. The 1920's and 1930' were his formative years in and around Trutnov and other com m unities in the northeastern region around his beloved Krkonos Mountains, the 1940's were very difficult and dangerous since the country was occupied by malevolent power. But in 1944 his life changed when he first met Majka during a ski instructors course in the mountains. After the war they met again, reaffirmed their love for each other, and in 1947 they married. This newly wed young couple left their homeland with the intention of returning in a few years, but due to the political change in regimes they only returned 43 years later. After a short time in the Netherlands w orking fo r an international trading company, first son George was born. In 1951, after immigrating to their new homeland of Canada, and a short time living near Quebec city and then moved to Cornwall, second son Otta was born. In 1955 the move to Montreal was to work at the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada, which was followed a few years later in joining the Anglo Canadian Pulp and Paper Company. The work years were full of active travel throughout the world on behalf of the company where he achieved the position of Vice President for International Sales. Before retirement the company was known as Reed Paper w ith its head office in Toronto. Parallel and closely tied to his business pursuits was his active involvement with Rotary Clubs International, initially with the Mount Royal St. Laurent Club in Montreal and then, after a move to Oakville in 1977, with the Oakville Rotary Club. His interest in ties between people locally and internationally had him organizing numerous events with an international focus to raise funds for community improvement projects around the world. This was very much in keeping with his priorities in life to family, friends and community. In his youth and later years, George was an active sportsman involved in hiking, walking, downhill and cross co u n try s k iin g , s a ilin g , b ic y c lin g and badm inton. He also enjoyed cu ltu ra l pursuits in M ontreal and Toronto attending classical music, opera and theatre. Friends may call at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, On Thursday, August 1, 2002 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A service to Celebrate George's life w ill take place on Wednesday, August 7 at 1:30pm at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville.
