www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, January 8, 2015 | 14 Family hopes to find dog missing since Christmas by Michael Gregory Oakville Beaver Staff With temperatures dangerously cold this week, an Oakville family is imploring the community to help find their beloved dog who has been missing since he dashed out the door after dark on Christmas Eve. Francine and Bob Savelson's 17-year-old bearded collie poodle cross was staying with a dogsitter on Thistledown Road, near Upper Middle and Dorval Drive, when he bolted out an open door after a walk around 9 p.m. "The dogsitter could not coax him back in and after retrieving his leash could no longer find him," Francine said. The couple and their three children, who have lived in Oakville for 29 years, are "devastated" by Kobe's disappearance, and are being assisted in their ongoing search by many friends. They've distributed approximately 120 posters around Glen Abbey and have been in contact with the Oakville and Milton Humane Society, Oakville Transit and Oakville Taxi in the hopes that someone might have spotted Please check your sheds, garages and under decks for Kobe. Francine Savelson Oakville Kobe, a 17-year-old bearded collie poodle cross, ran off Christmas Eve, was seen on Boxing Day, but remains missing. His family and friends remain hopeful of finding him, but are asking for help from the larger community. | photo courtesy Savelson family their pooch. On Boxing Day, an elderly couple spotted Kobe on Monks Passage, a few blocks from where he went missing, but were unable to catch him. Kobe is not microchipped, but has a collar with his name on it, Francine said. "He'll probably be very nervous," she said, noting her concern with the temperature outside. She said that because of his age Kobe doesn't hear well but said he'll respond to a cookie of any type. "Please, check your sheds, garages, and under decks for Kobe," Francine said. If anyone spots him they are asked to call Bob at 416-200-1423. The family said they are also offering a reward once Kobe is found. www.edwardjones.com Your interests come first.
