Online auction supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton This holiday season spend a little for something big with an online auction that supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton (BBBSH). Residents have until this Sunday (Dec. 7) to take part in the popular Shop for Kids Sake online auction. "Last year's auction was a huge success and this year's online auction is even bigger and better," according to a news release. "This year, there are more than 200 items. Old favourites return and there are some new and exciting items." How about a year of pizza? Sports fans can bid for a premium Toronto Maple Leafs or Toronto Raptors tickets or bid on a private golf lesson for two at Glen Abbey Golf Course. Other items up for bid include: dining at area restaurants; a year of home-baked goods from That Pie Place or Cobs; a year of pizza from Toppers Pizza; unlimited movies for two for a year from Encore Cinema. "You will find something for everyone or just yourself with the perfect gift basket, toys, amazing variety of gift certificates for just about anything for that special person on your list," said the release. "Spending just a little for something big helps kids in your own community while you finish all your holiday shopping with one simple click of a mouse." BBBSH has been serving the local community and mentoring children for 50 years, and is a United Way-funded agency. According to BBBSH, more than 1,100 children were served by one of its seven core mentoring programs last year.
