"I am certain our town's talent for working together, with creativity and imagination, makes us the right people to face what lies ahead," Burton told a packed council chambers that was standing-room only. "We cannot be passive bystanders here in Oakville." In a speech that neared the 15-minute mark, Burton discussed a mixed bag of political decisions to be made at the regional, provincial and federal levels that will all impact the Town's vision. "To succeed with all our challenges and opportunities will require us to keep true, as I mentioned we always do, to Oakville's core values," Burton said, listing community, pride in its small-town character, safety and "business-like discipline" as those ideals. "I am certain our town's talent for working together, with creativity and imagination, makes us the right people to face what lies ahead," said Burton.
