Town earns recognition for this year's Culture Days efforts The Town of Oakville has been recognized for this year's Culture Days program. Culture Days is a grassroots, nation-wide movement that aims to raise awareness, participation and engagement in the arts and cultural life of Canadian communities -- Oakville joined in with 825 other communities across the country this year. The local celebration on Saturday, Sept. 27 earned top spots in three categories, placing: · second in Ontario's Top 10 Regions · fourth in Ontario's Top 10 Cities · fifth in Canada's Top 10 Regional (similarly-sized municipalities). "Oakville Culture Days is a great opportunity for residents to immerse themselves and learn more about our vibrant arts and culture community," said Mayor Rob Burton. Rankings were based on the number of activities held in each community. Local celebration of Culture Days was held at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) and featured 58 activities, such as theatre performances, ceramic and woodshop workshops, and exhibitions.
