According to Oakville-based The Weather Network, the maximum wind gust speed recorded in Oakville on Monday was 98 km/h. Oakville Hydro said there were major outages in Bronte, and in an area near Trafalgar and Burnhamthorpe roads where two hydro poles snapped at ground level leaving almost 40 people without power for more than five hours. In Bronte, Oakville Hydro crews quickly removed a couple of downed trees that had fallen on wires, causing 3,728 customers to lose power for a little over an hour. Oakville Hydro spokesperson Cassandra Umbriaco said crews worked through the night to ensure customers had electricity during the windstorm. "All power has been restored across Oakville except for four residences where trees fell on the connection between their house and power lines," she said Tuesday. Halton police said that apart from downed trees there had been no reports of major damage. Edward Foster, who lives on Grosvenor Street, near Upper Middle Road East and Eighth Line, was left trying to figure out how to recover his trampoline after it flew over a fence and into a nearby ravine. An old tree was uprooted, but missed the cars and house at Dale Hunter and Peter Brydon's property on Grand Boulevard, on the west side of Eighth Line. As a reminder, Oakville Hydro said power outages may be reported at 905-825-9400 and non-functioning streetlights can be reported to 905-825-6354.
