Kabelik is a Gemini-Award nominated documentary filmmaker with projects for the CBC, TVO and Vision TV. He has taught documentary production courses at Sheridan College for 30 years. One of his first students at Sheridan College was Andrew Mech, who went on to work for music publisher Warner/Chappell, the Toronto International Film Festival and the CBC. The two have kept in touch and during a visit a few years ago, Mech told Kabelik about his long-time friend Aubrey Dayle.
