(formerly The Fleming School of Dance) is the perfect avenue to perfect your skills, or to enhance your abilities. Trained as a dancer and teacher, Virginia Fleming first opened The Fleming School of Dance in 1977, after emigrating to Canada in 1967. It was operated in two church halls, and has grown to its new, design built facility on Cornwall Rd., to be opened Sept. 7. The building contains three large studios, ample changing areas, a waiting room and office space. In addition, it houses The Oakville Centre for Sport and Dance Medicine, jointly run by Penny Fleming and Gus Kandilas. Penny is Company Physiotherapist to the National Ballet of Canada and Consultant Physiotherapist to the National Ballet School. With this latest expansion, Virginia will offer classes in not only all forms of theatre dance, but also other aspects of theatrical training. All teachers have reached high levels of recognition. Three of the staff are examiners for The Imperial Society o f Teachers of Dancing, an international organization The Fleming School of Performing Arts, Inc. aims to offer every student the opportunity to experience classes taught at a high level by a staff that demon strates not only passion for their profes sion, but empathy and understanding for each student. Students are encour aged to take examinations that eventual ly lead to professional qualifications, and all students perform in a high cali bre production at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts each June.
