Cole Maddox carried the puck around the Orillia net before sending a pass to James Mackey at the point. Mackey's shot was blocked by an Orillia player but it bounced right to Dhillion in the right faceoff circle and he beat the goalie with a wrist shot to the stick side. It was the fourth straight win for the Rangers, who opened the tournament with a 2-2 tie against East Gillimbury. OMLA celebrates strong year, fetes volunteers The Oakville Minor Lacrosse Association recently held its third annual volunteer appreciation night. The association has grown to include approximately 1,600 players, coaches and volunteers. It celebrated its accomplishments over the past season, which included all four boys' field teams reaching the provincial Division 1 final, with the Under-13s taking the gold medal. The girls' program, now the third-largest in the province, had the U11s win the provincial A gold medal, the U13s place fourth and the U19 play in the Ontario Summer Games. In box lacrosse, the peewee team won the organization's first provincial A championship in 12 years while the bantams lost in overtime in the Ontario final. Also, eight players and one coach from the OMLA represented Team Ontario at nationals.
