Blakelock High School G rad e: OAC N o m in ato r's N am e: Nigel Scott It c a n b e said that M ichael Falikowski is a "jack of all trades". C ontributing im m easurably to his high school, says teacher Nigel Scott, M ichael is a com bination of artist an d ath lete - excelling in sw im m ing, m usic an d dram a w hile at Blakelock High School. For th e past three years, M ichael has b een a m em ber of the Blakelock C oncert Band, as w ell as being the first C hair for the IMC sym phonic b and an d the H alton Youth Symphony. This year, his dram atic efforts w ere recognized w ith a joint aw ard of M erit for acting for his part in Straightjacket, w ith David M organ. Next year, his focus will be shifted to th e U niversity of Toronto, w here he will be studying English an d Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Science at St. M ike's College. Student's N am e: Ryan W illiam Forde School N am e: M acLachlan College G rade: 12 N o m inator's N am e: Mike Piening Ryan has been a long tim e student at M acLachlan College, a private school that starts with a Kindergarten program . H e has been actively involved in the Arts for m any years, including a num ber of outstanding M acLachlan C ollege dram a presentations. Ryan is also dedicated - he spent seven years at the Second City Improvisation Training C entre for Teens and w as able to com plete the highest level in his age group. But his artistic capabilities and creativity d o esn 't stop there - Ryan has w ritten m any short plays, stories and poem s, with hopes of eventually p u b lishing a collection of his w ork. Ryan has also m ade ap p earan ces on C anadian TV show s, as well as on TVO, YTV and CBC. This summer, Ryan is attending the "CENTAURI", a cam p for the arts, w here he will study clow ning, playwriting and perform ance. At 19, he plans to apply to the conservatory class, w here he hopes to m ove on to the touring com pany or m ain stage. The OAC stu d e n t is also described as a team player and som eone w ho dem onstrates outstanding leader ship. During her years at St. M ildred's, D anielle w as Captain of the Fall & Spring Senior Soccer Team, a m em ber of the Senior C oncert Band, placed 3rd at the CAIS Senior N ationals and had the lead role in the school m usical. D anielle plans to m ove her academ ic career to the University of Toronto, Trinity College, w here she will study English/business to prepare for a career in teaching. She also plans to try out for the university's Varsity Soccer team . W ith an average of 92.5% , Kevin w as the recipient of the M acLachlan C ollege Educational Foundation $ 1 5 0 0 University Scholarship Award for academ ic excellence. In addition to his com m itm ent to academ ics, Kevin also com pleted th e D uke of Edinburgh's Award pro gram at M acLachlan College, w hich he has been involved in since th e age of 14. H e will be receiving his G old Award from a m em ber of the Royal Family at Rideau Hall in O ttaw a this fall. Kevin's future also seem s as good as gold - he will be attending the University of W aterloo in the M echatronics Engineering program . O f the 1,200 applicants, he w as o n e of th e 100 successful can d i dates w h o gained a c c e p tan c e into this prestigious program .
