At 11:45 a.m. Chief Ean Algar will bestow the title of Honourary Police Officer on Dante, the ser vice's newest rookie and the 2002 Police Day MakeA-Wish sponsor child. Dante will be presented with a police badge and toy cruiser and will be dressed in the same uniform and hat as his "peers" for the day. Shortly after the ceremony, Dante's first shift will be to patrol the Safety Village. All funds raised during the family festival will go toward making Dante's wish of going to Disney World come true. Algar will also present a cheque to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Rd., features everything from climbing walls, mini-golf, pitching cage and old auto cruise-in to the Bomb Unit robot, live entertainment, displays and giveaways. An exciting feature of the day is the public's chance to see a variety of law enforcement units up close. These include the Bomb Squad, Identification Unit, K9 and Tactical Unit. They can also meet rep resentatives from Canada Customs, CN Police, Conservation Halton, local fire departments, the Ministries of Natural Resources and Transportation, OPP and RCMP Entertainment includes magic by Halton Regional Police officer A1 Grose, children's performer Paul Behnke, "Britney," Dream Girls and more.
