Pyramid Power, created by Simply Chocolate, turned heads at Sunday's first ever Chocolate Challenge hosted by The Kensington, a retirement resi dence at 25 Lakeshore Rd. W. When Debbie Olson lifted the pyramid up to reveal the cake underneath, the crowd of more than 100 residents and visitors marveled at the artistry of the Egyptian details in the chocolate icing. Chantal Ayotte · Special to the Beaver This W hite Chocolate Mousse was created by Chef Ja ck Dallas of The Kensington. She, along with Rose-Ann M iller and Susan Piercy. created the masterpiece. Not only was it a crowd pleaser, but Pyramid Power won the first prize for presentation and taste in the opinion of six judges who were challenged to determine the best chocolate dessert from seven delectable entries. Selecting the best desserts as to presentation, taste and aroma, and texture, was no easy feat for the judging panel that included two Kensington residents, Peggy Balagh and Grace Ryan, and confessed chocoholic Paula Henriques of the Oakville Beaver. The residents and visitors were invited to sample chocolate treats - everything from truffles to cookies and strawberries dipped in chocolate - at the event held to signal the coming of spring. " W e've had a really long winter and you know, dessert spelled backwards is stressed, and we've been really stressed this winter," said organizer Linda Potrykus, marketing man ager of The Kensington. "W e needed something to celebrate the end of winter. We already had Valentine's Day and it was so cold - and Easter is going to be late this year, so we decided to do something to mark the coming of spring," she said.
