Robertson has been living with the paralyzing neuromuscular disease known as Lou Gehrig's disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), for close to 10 years. He received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his leadership in the ALS community.
