Sheridan athletics to honour four alumni this fall Owen Griffiths, Bob Landry, Jerry Auger and the late Steve Blundy will be honoured by the Sheridan College athletics and recreation department during homecoming this fall. Griffiths, Landry and Auger will be inducted into the Sheridan Bruins Hall of Fame, and Blundy will have his name attached to the school's fitness and training centre. Griffiths helped Sheridan win the Ontario College Athletics Association men's hockey championship in 1982-83. The defenceman played in 70 games during his three years with the Bruins, was the team's MVP in 1983-84 and captained the squad in 1984-85. Following his playing days, Griffiths served as an assistant coach to Blundy. Landry ranks fifth all-time among Sheridan men's hockey goal scorers and point producers despite playing only two seasons with the team, from 1986-88. He was an OCAA all-star as a freshman and led the league in scoring the following year, when he was named an All-Canadian. Auger is one of eight Sheridan men's basketball players to score more than 800 points. In 1977-78, he led the Bruins to an OCAA bronze medal and an appearance at nationals. Blundy, who succumbed to cancer this past January, 33 | Thursday, August 14, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com left his mark on every aspect of Sheridan's athletics philosophy.
