The level three gymnasts -- which is the top provincial cate gory -- compete all day Saturday. And the province's national level gymnasts compete all day Sunday. On both days there are three flights, based on age divisions. The host Oakville Gymnastics Centre is well repre sented with four of its gymnasts competing in Saturday's level three meet. Angela Schempp and Jen Lymbumer are in the morning session (9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.). in the pre-junior 3 division, and Caitlyn Huot and Ashley Sportun are in the evening session (6:308 p.m.). in the senior 3 division. For the Oakville club, it marks the fourth major event it has hosted in as many years. Last year, it hosted a super qualifier, which was a last chance qualifer for the provin cials. And in each of the previous two years, it hosted the youth provincials for the younger preteen gymnasts. "Just based on all those events, we've kind of now become known as one of the better places to host a provincial championship " said Wayne Hussey, the centre's general manager. Glen Abbey Rec Centre, he said, makes for an excellent facility, as they take over the arena which has had the ice taken out for the season. " It's worked out really, really well because obviously you have a lot of height being in an arena. "Timing seems to work out well because obviously the ice is out." It's also good for the fans, he said. " It's good viewing, and the seating capacity is ideal. Oakville Running Room contingent ran last week's Boston Marathon By Josie von Euw SPE C L A L T O T H E BEAVER lulie Fairrie Oakville Beaver RUN! Satu rd ay's Turtle Trail Races through the groomed sce nic trails of O akville Heritage Trails was held in per fect 10C weather and raised money for the United W ay of Oakville. Joel Robertson An excited group of runners from the Oakville Running Room accomplished their dream of running the Boston Marathon last week (on Monday. April 15). For running enthusiasts who have not had the opportunity to visit Boston for the Marathon. I strongly recommend this be a highlight for you. Words can not describe the inspiration and positive energy felt amongst the crow'ds. While waiting along the 42 km route for spouse and friends to appear to cheer them on, one begins to show excitement for wheelchair athletes and all the other runners from around the globe that have come to Boston. It was also very inspiring to witness the support for the Canadian runners, from the singing of our national anthem to the exhilarating cheers and whistles. For some, this was a humbling experience, for others, a lifetime achievement as one of the runners of the Oakville group. Alicia Snell, had lost over 170 lbs to be able to obtain her goal of running Boston (stay tuned for her biography release this fall). The Oakville runners all finished with excellent times and many fond memories. The Oakville Running Room has cultivated a fantastic meeting arena for people who share similar goals: fitness, net working. socializing and helping out worthy charities, such as the Oakville chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society.
