No doubt, Oakville Arena is still echoing with music following the tri umphant weekend-long run o f the Oakville Skating C lub's, Thanks fo r the Music. "You know Oakville Arena might be an old bam. but what a great place to hold a show," said the show's hard working volun teer producer Annemarie Donaldson, herself a moth er o f two skaters. Organizers were happy to have Oakville Mayor Ann Mulvale take in Sunday's final showing. It capped off a whirl wind weekend o f four shows in three days, featur ing a cast o f literally hun dreds. These productions are held by the Oakville Skating Club every two years. "Fabulous, unbelievable -- we were thrilled," said Donaldson, who was right back at her day job on Monday. " It really went well. I'm so happy with it." The highlight, for her, is "the look on the kids' faces. It was great. "Also, the parents who had never been through it before coming up to me after a show and saying -- Wow! "You go through the chaos of those rehearsals and I could see it in their faces, thinking, `My gosh what have we got our selves in for?' "And then when they come and they see the show and it all comes together ... "I had a couple of parents who had been quite upset dur ing rehearsals, just come up and say, Annemarie, you were right. "That was absolutely the highlight of it." The total cast topped about 550 skaters, including about 400 from the club's leam-toskate programs. For these younger skaters, however, the club, this year, made it a little easier on them, so that each individual skater only had to skate in two shows.' So, each actual show only had 350 skaters. At the same time, however, with no guest skater, the club's, elite national and provincial cal ibre skaters got more time under the spotlight. "We had more solos, and it worked out beautifully.
