www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, July 24, 2014 | 6 Spotlight A L L A B O A R D F O R F U N "Connected to your Community" The 10th annual Easter Seals kids Regatta gave physically challenged children and their families a chance to cruise Lake Ontario. The Oakville Denny's provided breakfast before the families boarded vessels from the regatta hosts -- the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club, Oakville Power Boat Club and Oakville Yacht Squadron. Clockwise from top left, Sydney Lynn, 2, found the whistle on her life jacket more fun than having to wear the safety vest. Brohdee Orr, 5, gives his mom Kayla a big hug and kiss. On board and ready to cruise are sisters Sammy Pires, left, and Jordan, 9. Lynda Taylor and granddaughter Zeda-Lynn Lewis, 7, enjoy breakfast supplied by Denny's while Ali Thielman holds daughter Sydney Lynn as they are served breakfast by the restaurant's volunteers. Christopher Lambert, 16, gets a little help operating the hose nozzle from dad Pat, left, and TOWARF (Town of Oakville Water Air Rescue Force) volunteer John Bridge. Brock Lewis, 5, chats with colourful pirate Shayne Plowman. Each year, the regatta hosts activities on and off the water, a breakfast donated by Denny's, awards, culinary tastings by some of Oakville's restaurants and live and silent auctions. Boaters race and raise money in support of Easter Seals kids. They also offer tours for families aboard their vessels. Oakville re ghters and Halton's Marine Police squad are among the organizations that take part. | photos by Graham Paine Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog or facebook.com/HaltonPhotog) Volume 52 | Number 88 447 Speers Road, Oakville ON (905) 845-3824 Oakville Beaver is a member of the Ontario Press Council.
