www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Wednesday, June 18, 2014 | 14 Award recipients receive customized diorama continued from p.3 combe. "If you enjoy what you're doing and you enjoy the people with whom you work, it makes it a real pleasure." The Environmental Award went to the Bank of Montreal (BOM) for its contributions to protect or enhance Oakville's environment. The group was awarded for its involvement in the United Way of Oakville's Days of Caring initiative. BOM partnered with the Oakvillegreen Conservation Association to plant more than 400 trees and shrubs to restore a waterway area from erosion and prevent plant and wildlife loss. Nardine Flaro, BOM regional vice-president, accepted the award. "It took a lot of effort from all the employees across the bank to plant all those trees. I'm very proud of them. The bank supports volunteers to go out and help the community," said Flaro. The award has particular value to BOM. "It's not necessarily just about being environmentally-friendly. We have employees volunteering their time to help the community.
