Focus on nutrition and exercise continued from p.28 Today, Smith continues to follow a clean diet, eating six to seven meals each day. She exercises six days per week, incorporating cardio and resistance training. "I enjoy working out and I'm feeling stronger. I no longer stress about the scale," she said. Smith is able to deadlift 225 lbs. and press 700 lbs. with her legs. She says she used to be self-conscious about her legs, but now gets compliments on them. "You cannot give up. You have to keep going and eventually you will get there. It's not about the competition, it's about being fit and healthy," she said. Smith believes that there needs to be more services available for adults who suffer from eating disorders. She offers these words of advice: "If you think you have an issue, make sure you talk to someone." So far this year, Smith has competed again in both fitness model and figure categories. And, although she didn't place, she says she is extremely happy with how far she has come. Smith plans to maintain her new, healthy lifestyle and compete in more shows in the near future.
