Halton District School Board trustees announced yesterday (Wednesday) they would host a series of all candidates meetings, which will take place in Oakville, Burlington and Milton on May 26 and 27. Oakville Trustee Don Vrooman, Burlington Trustee Jennifer Hlusko and Milton Trustee Donna Danielli are organizing the meetings with the support of the Halton District School Board and the Ontario Public School Boards Association. The Oakville and Burlington events will take place Tuesday, May 27 with the Oakville meeting at White Oaks Secondary School, Public board hosts all-candidates' meetings 1330 Montclair Dr., and the Burlington meeting at Nelson High School, 4181 New St. The Milton event, which features candidates from the Halton riding, will be held at Hugh Foster Hall, 141 King St., on Monday, May 26. All meetings start at 6:30 p.m. The events will see candidates answer prepared questions from parents, students and community members as well as questions asked by those present at the meetings. The provincial election is on June 12. Halton residents are invited to attend the public event between 6-9 p.m. at 1469 Nottinghill Gate to learn about candidates vying for the Oakville and Halton MPP positions in the June 12 provincial election. It is hosted by the Oakville Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Oakville Beaver , Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board, TVCogeco, and Glen Abbey United Church. There is a seating capacity of 500. "The all-candidates meeting is an opportunity for members of the Oakville community to engage with the candidates, the possible future decision makers for our community and businesses," said Orla Johnston, chair of Oakville Chamber of Commerce in a press release. The Chamber is soliciting questions from its members, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the public.
