Born in Kitchener, Ontario on April 26, 1931 to Lordeen and Carl. Married for more than 60 years to Patrick Eckersley, with whom she shared an interesting, well travelled and mutually devoted life. Mourned by her eldest son Mike, his wife Sheryl Smith and their children, Meaghan (Mike), Kristen (Kevin) and Patricia (Garrett). Virginia was a year ago ecstatic with the birth of Charlotte, (Mike and Meaghan), the family's first great-grandchild. Virginia is predeceased by her beloved son, David. Service to be held Saturday, May 24th at Bethel Chapel, 1172 Britannia Road, Burlington, 2 p.m. Reception to follow. Virginia, a widely read woman, viscerally understood forgiveness and reconciliation; she lived the parallels: peace and love. BEEMER, Roy "Murray" Roy "Murray" Beemer, 79, of Oakville, Ontario, passed away on Monday May 12, 2014 at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Murray was a loving and kind man and was the devoted husband and best friend to Evelyn (Cuming) Beemer for 57 years. He was a proud family man who unconditionally loved and supported his three sons and their families. Murray was an accomplished business executive with Noxzema Canada and P&G. He was an avid golfer with Evelyn in his retirement. He enjoyed many years playing golf with friends in Vero Beach, Florida. Murray is survived by his wife Evelyn, his three sons Jim Beemer of Oakville, John and his wife Jill of Etobicoke, and Mark and his wife Pamela of Oakville; his grandchildren, Kyle, Wesley, Hutch, Jennifer, Kate, Bobby, Travis, and Robin as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Murray is predeceased by his sisters Shirley & Helen, and his brother Jack. He was also predeceased by his parents Harry and Nancy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their dedication and compassion in caring for Murray over the last few weeks. No public service will be held. BENNETT, Philip Charles It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Philip Charles Bennett on Wednesday May 14, 2014 in his 85th year. Loving husband of June (nee McKay) and devoted father to Grant, Brian (Karin) and Darlene. Dear brother of James (Carole), and brother-in-law of Betty-Ann, Evelyn (Ian), and Albert (Isobel). Phil was a doting uncle and grandpa to his many nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his faithful friend, Geordie. Phil was predeceased by his parents Charles and Sarah Bennett, and siblings Mae Shields (John), Grant (Vera) and Chuck (Gayle). Phil will also be missed by his morning coffee buddies and card-playing friends. Phil always had a twinkle in his eye and a funny joke or story to tell. He was an avid fan of anything his family enjoyed-hockey, robotics, lacrosse, fishing, cards, cottaging, and music. Phil served on the executive of the Minor Oakville Hockey Association, the Oakville Lacrosse Association and the Oakville Blades. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 2-5pm on Sunday May 18. The funeral service will be held on Monday May 19 at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. Cremation has occurred. A special thank you to the caring staff of the ICU at OakvilleTrafalgar Memorial Hospital.
