HHS names Hardenne interim president and CEO by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Wednesday, April 2, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Denise Hardenne, Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) executive vice-president, stepped in as interim president and CEO Monday, as John Oliver prepares to retire April 30. The announcement was made last week by the HHS board of directors. "I am honoured the board has invited me to assume this interim role and look forward to working with them, and my colleagues on the senior team, to ensure the organization continues to move forward with the capital projects and the provision of quality patient care services to our communities," said Hardenne. The HHS board is currently conducting a search for a new president and CEO to replace Oliver. It has appointed a search committee and retained Promeus Inc. to support the search process. In February, Promeus Inc. representatives met numerous internal and external stakeholders to shortlist the skills and competencies expected in the next CEO. A new president and CEO is expected in early summer. HHS officials described Hardenne as an executive accomplished in the health-care sector with more than 25 years of progressive leadership experience. She joined HHS in 2000 as vice-president of professional practice. In 2007, she was promoted to senior vicepresident and holds the title of HHS executive vice-president. She has been responsible for leadership in hospital operations, quality and board concludes its search process." Hardenne graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with Bachelor of Science and Master of Community Economic Development (MCED) degrees. She has a Wharton School of Business fellowship in management for chief nurse executives and has completed the Rotman not-for-profit governance essentials program. Hardenne also has an MBA (Masters Business Administration) from Queen's University. Hardenne has been a designated Health System surveyor with Accreditation Canada for 15 years and served as an external expert consultant for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and other health-care organizations to assist with the completion of operational efficiency reviews. "We are very fortunate Denise has accepted this interim role. She has the complete support of the board of directors and the members of the senior team and we are confident she will provide the organization with exceptional leadership during this time of transition," said Wilson.
