She died in Oakville on Sunday, February 23rd, 2014 at age 86. She was John Snider Wilson's precious bride for nearly 64 years. He misses her and so do her children: Paul (Marnie) of Hamilton, Scott (Mary Ellin) of Ottawa, Joanne Patterson (David) of Toronto, Mark (Carol) of New Liskeard. Barbara was grandmother to Chris, Carly, Adam, Laura, Ashley, Emma, Molly and dear Danny, who reached heaven before her. Up there too is her lovely sister Margaret Hillmer. Barbara was born to William Scott McKay and his warbride Annie Olive Nash, in the front bedroom of the house on Spruce Street, when Oakville was a town of 4,000. Barbara first set eyes on John at the Wilson farm, on the lake in west Oakville, where she was a fetching war-era farmerette. She went on to earn a degree in occupational therapy at the University of Toronto. The pair raised a family and kept moving. They lived in Oakville, Hornby, Sarnia, Montreal, Toronto, Belfountain, Port Dover, Bronte, Lakefield. Each house provided a fresh canvas for Barbara's impressive decorating talents. She was also an accomplished sketch artist. Barbara loved raking leaves, picnicking, Maeve Binchy, greasy spoons, dairy bars, people of every kind, the Oakville pier, the cottage at Lake Chandos and doing cartwheels, which she performed into her 70s.
