A snow windrow is the pile of snow that accumulates at the end of driveways during road plowing, which can be difficult for seniors and individuals with health problems or disabilities to remove. The town has developed a program to assist these individuals with a windrow clearing program that runs from December 1 through to March 31. Register today in person at Town Hall, 1225 Tra Trafalgar Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eligible Oakville resi residents include: · Seniors 65 years of age or older. Proof of age will be required. · Persons with a p physical disability. A doctor's note required. is req equi uired. · Registrants will also need to sign a declaration stating that no able-bodied person under the age of 65 is living at their residence. Family Swim to Survive lessons provide families (parents or caregivers and their children ages 5+) with the necessary skills required to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. Qualified staff will teach you how to do a front roll into the water, tread water for two minutes, and swim 50-metres (two lengths of the pool). Lessons take place at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. The Family Swim to Survive program is offered as a pre-registered three-week parented course for $6 per participant. Each person must register. Spaces are limited. The Family Swim to Survive program is also offered as a parented drop-in program for families with children ages 5+. Cost is $2 per participant for a one-hour lesson.
