www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, September 12, 2013 | 6 Spotlight H O L D I N G A L E N S T O "Connected to your Community" B E A U T Y | photo by Nikki Wesley Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog) From left, St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School students, Serena Natale, Zinnia Al-Najjar, and Jerina Forestall took up the invitation by PhotoSensitive, in partnership with students in the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS), to consider the true meaning of beauty in the world around them through black-and-white photography. Their work, along with that of their peers as well as that of some Appleby College students, will be part of the new PhotoSensitive exhibit, The Beauty Project Photography Exhibition, at Toronto's Brook eld Place, 181 Bay St., that continues through Sept. 23. I took this photo while sailing along the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey during this past summer. The rush of freedom you feel as the wind tousles your hair, salt-water kisses your face and a gleeful smile grows ear-to-ear tops any feeling in the world. At that moment, nothing matters because you are at peace, and to me, this gift of serenity could not be more beautiful. -- Serena Natale Beauty differs from one person to another, and there's never a right or wrong answer to what it is. To me, beauty is passion, love and pureness; beauty is what you love in life, it's what takes your breath away. (Photo taken in Barcelona, Spain) -- Zinnia Al-Najjar When I was asked what beauty meant to me, I immediately thought of travel and the excitement of exploring new places. I think beauty is discovering different countries and learning about their perspectives of beauty.
