June leaves behind one sister Vera (Basil) Parsons, 4 sons Jon (wife Colette), Guy (friend Dorothy), Kerry (wife Cindy), and David (wife Kathy) along with 11 grandchildren Aaron, Lindsay (Bob), Matthew, Joshua, Justin, Shawna, Alicia, Hanna, Liam, Chantelle (Karl) and Candace plus 4 greatgrandchildren Jacob, Emma, Adyson Rae, and Arabella. June was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Roy, parents Edward and Vera Lynch, Donna & Gordon Mainland (sister and brother-in-law), Jack and Kay Lynch (brother and sister-in-law) and by her step-grandson Brent. As member of the Bronte, Ontario "pioneer Jennings family", June spent a considerable amount of her early summers and holidays visiting family in Bronte. Then in 1956 June and Roy built their long-time family home there. June remained in that home until recently when she located to Lakeshore Place Retirement Residence in Burlington, Ontario. She resided at Lakeshore Place until her passing. A unique individual and always ahead of her time, June was one of the first women to coach boy's baseball in the 1960s. She also became one of the early women professional realtors serving Oakville and area. At Church of the Epiphany- Bronte, (home church since 1956) she served as a volunteer on numerous committees and other activities. The family wishes to acknowledge the entire professional staff at Lakeshore Place, Burlington. The family appreciates the exceptional care and comfort they provided to our mother. Visitation will take place at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr St., 905-844-2600) on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Road, Oakville. Ret'd Veteran of WWII and Korea.1926-08-31 to 2013-09-06 Tom (Terry) Sawyer has now, at the age of 87, followed those of his shipmates from HMCS Warrior, Donnacona, Swansea, Sioux, La Hulloise, Stadacona, Magnificent, Prestonian, Nootka, New Waterford, Assiniboine, and Discovery, HM submarines Andrew, Alcide, and Aeneas, and HMC S/M Ojibwa, who have `crossed the bar' before him. For 50 years, the Navy was his life. Through the ranks to chief electrician, communicator, ship's diver, submariner, rifle team instructor, Bisley shot, and on `civvie' street, captain of Horton Maritime Explorations Ltd.'s submarine Auguste Piccard, and DND QA and electrical officer for the refit of Navy ships in BC and Ontario. Postretirement he worked on the restoration of a Swordfish at Downsview, and the restoration of electrical systems on HMCS Haida, as well as volunteering at the Oakville Humane Society. To those in the Canadian and Royal Navies and the numerous Naval Associations to which Tom belonged, please have a `tot' in memory of Tom and all those who have crossed the bar before. He leaves behind his wife Laine and children Carolyn, Allen, Christopher, and Timothy, and granddaughters Emily and Jessica. At Tom's request, friends and colleagues are welcome at a wake at the Oakville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 114, 36 Upper Middle Road East Oakville, Saturday September 14th, from 1 pm (1300 hours) until about 5 pm (1700 hours).
