The Toronto Rock is hosting the event at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, located at 1132 Invicta Dr. The draft will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, drafteligible players will participate in the league's player combine. The combine will culminate with a prospects game Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. Oakville's Mark White is among the top young prospects available in the draft. The 5-foot-11 transition player was a member of the junior A Burlington Chiefs last season. AJ Masson, who suited up for the Oakville Rock of the Major Series Lacrosse senior A loop, is also viewed as a potential first-round pick, according to lacrosse website ILindoor.com. Six medals for senior dragon boater Local resident Verna Dalgleish was part of six medal-winning Canadian entries at the International Dragon Boat Federation world Sports Briefs championships recently in Hungary. Dalgleish's boats won three gold and three silver medals in Senior C Division 60-plus competition. "The... division was new this worlds so it was important for the division to prove that it belonged," said Dalgleish. "There were four countries entered and in most cases our times were very good when compared to the Senior B Division." Canada finished the competition atop the medal standings with 30 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze. A total of 31 countries participated in the meet. Peewee Hawks win division title The Oakville Hawks peewee travel team won the B Division championship at the recent Summer Exposure Hogan Lacrosse Tournament in Annapolis, Md. Members of the team are Aidan Murray, Chris Dong, Connor Meagher, Dante Parisotto, Ethan Harkins, James Carroll, James Passafiume, Landon Masse, Matthew Thompson, Max Boulanger, and midget). The Oakville Venom is one of the nine core clubs in the league, which sees teams travel to venues on various weekends and play two games in one day. The model allows everything to be provided for participating teams, from gymnasiums to referees to scoring table staff. Games begin in November and end in May. Pasma returned to Oakville in 2011 after spending four years as a trainer and studio co-ordinator in Europe.
