One area resident said he supported Apache's plan as the long-term economic future of Oakville is dependent on these types of projects. The Town's Manager of Current Planning Gabriel Charles said in his report to council the proposed development is located in midtown Oakville, an area that is intended to accommodate a significant portion of future population and economic growth. A representative from Apache pointed out the area is zoned high density residential, the current zoning does permit developments as high as 12-storeys and her client is asking for far less commercial space than what is currently permitted. That said the representative noted Apache is willing to look at options, including possibly reducing the amount commercial space currently proposed.
