The 12th annual Eddies, the Halton Student Film Festival, will be recognizing local student achievement in filmmaking tomorrow (Thursday, May 30). The awards gala is taking place at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, 440 Locust St. in Burlington, The film festival is open to all students currently attending any Halton District Board Secondary or Elementary school. More than 300 elementary and secondary students participate each year. The Eddies awards are handed out for various categories, which range from comedy and public service announcements to music video and animation. There is also a Palme D'Eddy award handed out to the best in show winners. Following the presentation of awards, all of the winning entries are viewed on a big screen. "Students, staff, and family members are invited to come out and share in the success of our talented students," stated the film festival's website, www.theeddies.ca. The Halton District School Board said past Eddies winners have graduated and gone on to achieve success in the film industry and have even won prestigious awards for their work.
