The forum will take place at the Oakville Conference Centre and will address questions about how the community collectively can foster innovation for the future. Experts will lead discussions in four key areas, including: planning and infrastructure, transportation, sustainable buildings, water and waste management. Oakville is home to some of the world's most iconic engineering firms: GE, Hatch and Siemens. Sustainability experts from these companies will be sharing their expertise at the symposium. Complimenting these presentations, Metrolinx, Enermodal Engineering, PwC, Ellis Don and the Region of Halton will also share their experiences, knowledge and visions related to sustainability. The day's keynote speaker, Senator Art Eggleton, presents widely on the issue of sustainable cities. The symposium will be run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and features a post-event networking reception. It also includes breakfast and lunch and is open to the public. The cost is $65 for the full day and $10 to attend only the networking reception. Have a say on new public school board budget As the Halton District School Board develops its 2013-14 budget, parents and other members of the public are being invited to have their say. The board is asking parents, guardians and community members to provide input concerning its budget priorities for the upcoming school year. The budget input deadline is Friday, April 19.
