The free show runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Glen Abbey Community Centre on Third Line. Take a stroll down Biodiversity Lane, check out presentations from the eco stage, and see what a variety of exhibitors have in regards to eco-friendly products and services. "Our theme is to protect biodiversity. One of the greatest threats to biodiversity is species extinction," said Stephen Dankowich, show manager and executive director of the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEHR). "There will be three organizations in attendance to promote species including Exotic Critter Tales, Wild Ontario and Sciensational Sssnakes!!," he said. "Exotic Critter Tales takes a step away from the same old petting zoo by offering an interactive and educational experience with some of their exotic Snakes, birds and more at Eco Fest animals. Come meet a red kangaroo and a ringed tail lemur," said Dankowich. Wild Ontario is a live-animal, environmental outreach program based at the University of Guelph. Sciensational Sssnakes!! provides hands-on education about reptiles and amphibians. Presentations will be at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the Halton Eco Festival eco stage. "The Halton Eco Festival is a very fun and educational event for the whole family. Other features include a focus on health and wellness as well as 50 exhibitors promoting green products, services and environmental campaigns," said Dankowich. There is a kid's eco fun zone with arts and crafts workshops. Halton Region will be handing out free blue boxes and 500 of the new orange boxes for safely transporting hazardous waste from the home or workplace to be dropped off at the land ll site on Bronte Road. Applications for DHTBF scholarship due today Applications for the Drew Hildebrand Teen Bene t Fund scholarship are due today (Friday). Applications, sent to all Halton and Peel school boards, and youth-related community organizations, are also online at http://drewhildebrandtbf. com. Winners will be recognized at the Race for Teens At-Risk Sunday, June 9 in Coronation Park. Those interested in the run can register for the ve-kilometre walk, or 5K/10K run online. All proceeds will support scholarships and music and art programs for teens at-risk and in nancial need in local communities. Sponsorship opportunities for the fundraising race are still available and 75 volunteers are needed to join Drew's Crew to help out.
