Classic Albums Live will be performing Supertramp's 1979 album Breakfast In America, featuring music written by Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies, at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday (March 5). Classic Albums Live is known as a top concert series for recreating classic rock albums note for note, cut for cut, live on the stage. The series has already performed The Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers in Oakville and now will be performing Breakfast In America. Breakfast In America is Supertramp's second largest selling album, selling 20 million copies worldwide. It was certified quadruple platinum. It features songs such as The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Goodbye Stranger and the title track, Breakfast In America. The album won two Grammy Awards, one for best recording package and another for best engineered album, nonclassical. It was also nominated for album of the year. The Centre is located at 120 Navy St. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $64.99. Seating is limited. The Burlington Welsh Male Chorus, along with Oakville's Tempus Choral Society, will perform the St. David's Day Concert at Knox Presbyterian Church tonight (Friday). Kerr Street Ministries will be the beneficiary of the concert. Now, the Saturday Night Live-style show is coming to the local community cable channel, TV Cogeco. The first episode will air at midnight on Saturday (March 2). The show's main cast includes Alexander Elliot, Hendrik Wernars, Joe Blake, Chandler Loryn, Brandon Andrew and Tyler Weyersberg. Elliot created the television show in 2012 as part of his radio and television education at Ryerson University. Now, the first season (10 episodes) will air weekly on Saturday nights on TV Cogeco and will lead into the start of the second season. The organization is hosting its Poetry Plus youth poetry workshops, which will run for several Saturdays beginning March 2. There are three age groups for the workshops: for ages four to six, seven to 11 and 12 to 14. The workshops will be run by three presenters, young adult novel writer Ellen S. Jaffe, writer and illustrator of children's literature Jenny Panda and poet and singer Honey Novick. The workshops will be on March 2, 23 and 30 at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, 2302 Bridge Rd. They run 1:30-2:30 p.m. for four to six year olds, 1:30-2:30 p.m. for seven to 11 year olds, and 1:15-2:45 p.m. for 12 to 14 year olds.
