Keith Bird in third term as vice chair of CH Oakville Ward 3 Town and Regional Councillor Keith Bird will serve a third term as vice chair of Conservation Halton. Bird was reappointed to the position during the organization's 57th inaugural board meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21. John Vice, citizen appointee from Burlington, was acclaimed as chair. Bird has been on the Conservation Halton board for all, but two years since 1974. During those two years he was on the Conservation Halton Foundation board. Vice has been on the Conservation Halton board for nine years. "I would like to thank my colleagues on the board for the nomination and Conservation Halton staff for their hard work over the past year. There are so many wonderful things happening with the hundreds of thousands of visitors to our parks, and the tireless efforts of our staff to protect the natural environment," said Vice. "Glen Eden is one example and is a really nice story of what's happening at our parks. They just had a tremendously busy Family Day with more than 6,500 visitors enjoying skiing, snowboarding and tubing. The staff initiateddecisions to invest in our infrastructure with snowmaking and grooming equipment, as well as the renovation of our Visitor's Centre, helped Glen Eden become a significant attraction and one of the top four busiest ski and snowboard operations in Ontario," Vice said. During the board meeting, Mississauga representative Keith Lalonde announced he is stepping down from the board effective Friday (March 1). Lalonde has been a board member since 2004. "It has been an honour and true privilege to have been part of the Conservation Halton board," said Lalonde.
