www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, February 28, 2013 · 8 Anti-bullying workshop March 2 An anti-bullying workshop is scheduled to take place at Iroquois Ridge High School in Oakville on Saturday (March 2). The event is hosted by the Halton branch of the John Howard Society Peel-Halton-Dufferin in partnership with the Halton District School Board and Halton Regional Police. The keynote speaker is Mike Neuts, wellknown across Canada for his presentations to parents and children on bullying. Neuts' son Myles died in 1998 as a result of a fatal act of bullying -- he was 10. "Mike Neuts has used this experience to work towards affecting change by delivering an important message of hope," stated a press release. "His goal is to provide education, support and structure to the young people in our society, in the hopes of ultimately preventing another bullying-related tragedy." Representatives from HDSB, Halton police and the John Howard Society will also speak on the topics of bullying prevention and intervention and the services available to students; a legal perspective and community initiatives; and a community resource available to youth and parents, respectively. The workshop will take place at the studio theatre inside the 1123 Glenashton Dr. school from 9 a.m.-noon. For information, e-mail milton@johnhowardphd.ca.
