The Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) is holding a Bunny Hop Adopt-a-thon this weekend to find forever homes for 37 bunnies. The bunnies have been in the care of the 445 Cornwall Rd. humane society since Nov. 18. During the adopt-a-thon, running Friday-Sunday (Dec. 14-16), the cost to adopt a bunny will be $50, instead of the regular $90. The adoption fee includes a health and behaviour check and spay/ neuter. "We hope that if folks have been considering adding a bunny to their family, they'll hop on over to the shelter this weekend," said Brenda Dushko, spokesperson for the humane society, in a news release. "All bunnies available for adoption will already be spayed or neutered, making litter training easier, reducing the possibility of health and behaviour issues and helping to end pet overpopulation." Dushko said bunnies make excellent family pets. They need a safe enclosure, and love to exercise and play. With gentle handling, they will form a close bond with their families.
