The Brilliance and Light concert will feature two favourites of the Classical era, one being Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's symphony #41 (Jupiter), which is widely considered as the composer's greatest symphony. The other piece, Ludwig van Beethoven's Triple concerto will be performed by the internationally-renowned Blakemore Trio. The trio consists of pianist Amy Dorfman, cellist Felix Wang and violinist Carolyn Huebl. The musical paths of all three crossed at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee. Since 2002, the group has played to critical acclaim. The chamber orchestra is conducted by Charles Demuynck. The Saturday concert takes place at Central Baptist Church, 340 Rebecca St., at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday concert is at St. Simon's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd., at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $30 for general admission, $25 for seniors, $20 for students or $15 for children. Thriller debuts at Route 66 festival The Charon Incident, shot by Oakville filmmaker Allan Wylie, is heading down Route 66 to Springfield, Illinois to screen at The Legacy Theatre. The short film is opening the 11th annual Route 66 Film Festival tonight. The Charon Incident was filmed in the U.K. and Canada. It pays homage to thrillers of the 1970s, blending a retro lens with modern cutting-edge technology, including the use of the digital visual effects company Peregrine VFX, which helped bring The Lord of the Rings and Avatar films to life. The Charon Incident looks at the fragility of society, after science is mixed with greed. Wylie, who wrote and directed the film, said he was inspired after catching the flu.
