OTMH Candlelight Ball going Over the Top Saturday The 21st Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) Candlelight Ball is this Saturday (Nov. 3) and it promises to be Over the Top. The circus-themed evening, hosted by the Oakville Hospital Foundation and sponsored by Barrington's Fine Outerwear and Murron's Cabinetree, will be held at the Burlington Convention Centre at 1120 Burloak Dr. Every year, the gala raises funds benefitting the Oakville hospital and its equipment needs. Guests at the event will once again have the chance to taste a multi-course menu created by chef Michael Bonacini of Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants and his team, Matthew Foote and Jamie Meireles, especially for the OTMH Candlelight Ball. "We're very excited to be involved once again in this great event -- seeing so many members of the Oakville community come together to support a cause they are all so passionate about is inspiring," Bonacini said in a press release. "We are honoured to be able to contribute in our own way -- great food and wine is often a catalyst for even greater ideas and conversation about the future of OTMH." The evening will also feature contests, live, silent and reverse auctions, and the annual, fastpaced Cause-within-a-Cause fundraising activity, which began with Bruce Galloway, chairman of the board of directors for the Oakville Hospital Foundation, committing to a matching pledge of $250,000. "A year ago, I had the pleasure of standing in a room filled with our most generous and loyal donors to announce my gift to the Oakville Hospital. My $250,000 donation was presented as a matching challenge to our gala patrons. By doing so, I hoped my gift would have an even greater impact and encourage those around me to consider a meaningful gift to this campaign," Galloway said in a letter. "For those of you who were there that evening, you witnessed the power of a group of people willing to stand up and collectively voice their support for our hospital. We raised more than $500,000 for our hospital in just 10 minutes. Not only did it encourage others to make a gift to our campaign, it encouraged one donor to lead the cause this year." With the anonymous donor offering $500,000 to this year's Cause-within-a-Cause event, the goal is to match the $500,000 donation to fund the equipment needs for the hospital's surgical department for one year -- a cost of $1 million. Doors open at 6 p.m. with cocktails, appetizers and a popcorn parade, followed by dinner, the live auction and entertainment at 7:30 p.m. Dessert, activities and live music and dancing begin at 9:45 p.m. Last year's gala raised a record $1 million (net) to help fund the purchase of essential equipment for the hospital. 3 · Thursday, November 1, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com November 9 - 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. November 10 - 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Product Demonstrations Draw for a $500 credit towards Binaural Hearing Aids (new customers only) Anniversary Celebration!
