Oakville firefighters issue heat alert over fundraiser Oakville firefighters have issued an extreme heat alert for the official release party of the 2013 Oakville Firefighters Calendar. The 2013 Oakville Firefighters Charity Calendar Gala will be held Friday, Sept. 28. The fundraiser will be held at the Galaxy Banquet Hall, 475 North Service Rd. E. The night starts at 8 p.m. with the calendar boys fashion show, courtesy of Garvey's Fine Men's Wear. Live music will be performed by The Dirt Dogs. Light snacks will be provided and there will be a live auction and walk of choice raffle as well as a cash bar. Calendars will be released and sold at the event for $10. Each month in the calendar will feature an Oakville firefighter and a future Dog Guide puppy. After the fashion show, the calendar boys will be on hand to sign calendars and pose for pictures. Those attending will be able to have their calendar signed by the firefighters. Proceeds will be donated to the Oakvilleheadquartered Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, the Oakville Hospital Foundation, Ian Anderson House Foundation and the Oakville Professional Firefighters' association (OPFFA) Sponsorship Fund.
