Cadet review Saturday Mayor's golf tourney returns to Glen Abbey The local regiment of an army cadets corps is holding its 88th annual ceremonial review Saturday and is inviting the community to attend. Established in 1924, the 1188 Lorne Scots Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corps is a free program for youth and teens between the ages of 12-18 that emphasizes the development of leadership skills, participating in local community service, greater fitness levels and an understanding of the Canadian Forces as an organization. "Army Cadets provides the opportunity for both Oakville and Bronte youth participation in challenging and exciting activities," stated the cadet corps website, which notes participation in the army cadet corps goes towards the mandatory high school community service hours. The ceremonial review will take place at the Oakville Arena, 133 Rebecca St., at 1 p.m., with Honourary Col. Gary D. Reamey of the Lorne Scots Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment, acting as reviewing officer. The Halton Regional Police Service Pipes and Drums will also be present to perform.
