www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, May 30, 2012 · 14 Oakville Place opens a second market Oakville Place is ready to open a new Saturday farmer's market. It will open for the season Saturday (June 2) and will be open every following Saturday through to the Thanksgiving weekend (Oct. 6). A sister market to the regular Thursday edition at Oakville Place, which opens June 14, the Saturday sale will feature some regular Thursday vendors along with some new ones. Both markets will be at a new location on the mall grounds this season -- in the southwest parking area outside The Bay. They'll run 8 a.m.-2 p.m. "The growing demand for Ontariogrown produce, and the terrific consumer response to the Thursday market we launched four years ago, convinced us to introduce a new Saturday market at Oakville Place this season," Valerie Blyleven of Blyleven Farms and co-ordinator for both markets, said in a press release. "Our Thursday market is very popular and well supported by moms at home with young children and those fortunate enough to be retired. However, those who work Monday to Friday and can't make it to a weekday market unless they are on vacation will appreciate the new Saturday market." Curbside Bliss Cupcakes, the first mobile cupcake kitchen in Canada, will also be offering a sweet treat for all who come out to both the Thursday or Saturday markets. More than 20 cupcake varieties, based on recipes that include local fruit and vegetables, will be prepared fresh in Curbside Bliss Cupcake's mobile kitchen throughout the season. Two Ontario honey vendors will also be featured this season, The Bee & Me at the Thursday market and The Country Bee at the Saturday market -- the Bee & Me will also have farm-fresh eggs as well on Thursdays. Other vendors will be offering Ontario-raised venison, home-made sausages, grill meats, fruit and meat pies, preserves, berries, Maple syrup, baked goods and seasonal flowers. Oakville Place is at Trafalgar Road and Leighland Avenue, just north of the QEW. For information on both markets, visit www.oakvilleplacefarmersmarkets. com.
