Women's running clinic May 30 Two big names in female athletics will be among the guest speakers at a women's running clinic to be hosted by The Running Company in Oakville later this month. Two-time Ironman champion Tereza Macel and 1984 Olympic marathon competitor Silvia Ruegger will speak at the event, along with registered physiotherapist Nancy Botting. Following the presentations, Macel will lead a group run. The clinic will take place Wednesday, May 30, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Running Company, 114 Lakeshore Rd. E. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. The cost to attend the clinic is $56. Proceeds from the clinic will go towards Girls Incorporated of Halton, a non-profit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Lacrosse midfielder recognized Oakville's Alex Crepinsek was recently named to the Liberty League Men's Lacrosse All-Conference second team. The senior midfielder started all 14 games for the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers. Crepinsek helped RIT hold opponents to 7.80 goals per game. He also scooped up 47 ground balls, third-best on the team, and contributed two goals and seven assists on offence. Elliott Cowburn of Oakville received an honourable mention for the all-conference team. The junior defenceman was second on the Tigers with nine caused turnovers and 17 ground balls.
