Infant Organics healthy option for busy Oakville families By Melanie Cummings SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER The gift of giving good health to your baby is close at hand. In the freezers and refrigerators of countless homes in town lie the fruits (and vegetables and meats) of Lynne Faye's labours. She's the master chef behind Infant Organics, a line of baby foods (and grown up snacks) made from certified organic ingredients that are all grown close to home. Her retail shop opened last summer and recently relocated to the heart of downtown Oakville. That's where Faye steams the fruits and vegetables, in their skins, to keep all of the vitamins and nutrition packed in, and then flash freezes them to ensure the goodness remains for the longterm. Even the packaging has baby's future in mind. It's made from plantbased starches that are compostable cling bins are full. "We really do care," said Faye. There's a bevy of variety on the breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack menus to appease the developing palates of infants, toddlers and even kids and grown ups. "If little ones are on a path to healthy eating they'll start to develop a palate for healthy food and that'll pay off in the long run," said Faye, a mother of five adult children. Son Mike works alongside his mom and daughter Stephanie designs the labels and comes up with the clever names for the dishes, like Yummy Yams and Saucy Chicken. Many Infant Organics customers are new moms, working parents, and grandparent caregivers who have little time to make their own food. Infant Organics steps in with dishes such as Mac n' the CheeseBalls, sweet potato fries and more. There are also snacks for kids and adults, as well as breakfast Pre-K to Grade 12 Grammar Health Oakville Beaver ERIC RIEHL / Oakville beaver 23 · Thursday, March 15, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com options.
