The third Women Gathering event on Monday, Feb. 27 will explore compassion. "It's a gentle, caring opportunity for women to gather from various faiths or just people wondering if any of the religions have anything relevant to their lives," said organizer Ann Mulvale. "The common denominator this year is how is compassion expressed in your religion and how does it roll out and how does it influence your day?" "We believe that by learning and sharing, we are equipping ourselves to make a positive contribution driven by a belief that there is a god in some way," Mulvale said. This year's speaker, DekyiLee Oldershaw, grew up in Oakville and became a Buddhist nun. In 2007, she was nominated for the Athena Award and in 2008 was Halton Woman of the Year. Mulvale said organizers believe in educating women and children because it enables positive change. "We celebrate human potential and think it's a wise investment of time to come together and listen, learn, and to share in this welcoming environment," she said.
