SIU probes shooting Louia Rosella METROLAND MEDIA Halton Regional Police are probing a potential connection between the murder of a woman in West Oak Trails Thursday and the fatal shooting of a man outside an Oakville police station hours later. The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating whether Halton Regional Police officers should be charged after a man was shot dead before noon. The fatal police shooting took place around 11:35 a.m. when police found "an individual causing damage to the parking lot" at the police station on Oak Walk Dr., in north Oakville. An incident followed with several police officers, resulting in the man being shot dead. No officers were injured. SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon said she didn't have the age of the dead man or his residence, or how many officers have been designated the subjects of the investigation. Meanwhile, Halton Police are investigating a second crime scene in Oakville that may be connected to Thursday's deadly shooting. Homicide officers are at a home on Treetop Terrace, in the area of Westoak Trails Blvd. and Upper Middle Rd., where the body of a female was reportedly found inside a townhouse. Hudon wouldn't confirm or deny a connection, adding only that the SIU is "solely investigating the actions of officers" in the police station incident. Halton Police also would neither confirm nor deny a connection. A Treetop Terrace neighbour, who only gave her name as Lorraine, said a mother of three boys, lived in the townhouse. She said the family moved to the neighbourhood last summer and were very quiet. Robert, a man who owns a landscaping company across the street from the station, witnessed the police incident. He said he heard about 10 shots ring out and saw a man in a car get out while the vehicle was still moving. The man was approached by three officers with their weapons drawn. Robert said the man collapsed on the ground and then more officers ran out of the building towards the scene. Halton Paramedics tried tirelessly to revive the man at the scene. The parking lot was taped off by investigators and the body was surrounded by police cruisers for several hours. With files from the Toronto Star. 11 · Friday, January 13, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com New 2012 Infi fin niti G25 G TK G4 TK72 72 AA 72 AA00 00 Fina Fi nanc na anc n e AP APR R S #G Sk G1 12 206 062 2 D wn Do w pa paym ymen ym e t en Pay Pa yme ment nt 1.9 % $ 7,900 $ 499 @ 72 mo mont nths nt hs** hs ** per pe r mo ont nth h in incl c hs h t · Standard Leather · 218 Hp · Available Intelligent Awd · 7 Speed Auto Transmission · Intelligent Key With Push Button Start Until Jan Unt Jan. 31, 1 201 2012 2 ear e n 5,0 5 00 aer ae opl o an op a mil iles s wit with h the he e pur purcha chase se of o any veh vehicl icle. e EARN 5,000 AEROPLAN® MILES ® Aeroplan is a registered trademark of Aeroplan Canada Inc.
