Every child is a star! Glenburnie School is proud to present the Performing Arts Challenge Talent Contest on Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Children from 5 to 13 years of age, from all over the region, are invited to compete in this annual event. Being an artist is more than mastering a set of skills. A memorable artist reaches out from the stage and touches our hearts, making us smile, laugh, or even cry. Too often, we encourage developing artists to focus so much on technique that personal expression and the joy of sharing their own artistic vision gets lost in the process. "The response from parents and participants has been awesome," explains event chair Paul Carr. "By having the judges score each performance on both `Technical Merit' and `Artistic Impression' to determine the winners, the Performing Arts Challenge let's every child know that her or his unique personality and spirit are important and valued." Each performer will receive personal feedback from the judges who come from the world of jazz, classical music, musical theatre, and television to bring a wide range Toddlers: 18 months - 2 ½ years h lers: 2 ½ - 5 years Preschool 2, 3, or 5 mo mor rni ning ngs s pe per r we week ek New after f noon class starts in January mypet myvet Dr. Gesa Kohn-Gould Veterinarian & Owner V myanimalhospital.ca Behavioural Problems CALL OR EMAIL TODAY! Problems of this nature are the main reason why so many pet owners become frustrated and many animals are surrendered to shelters. Most behavioural problems can be avoided by early socialization training. Some behavioural problems are due to an underlying medical condition. Pain and disease can affect the interaction between the pet and their owner. Yo Y ur veterinarian will need to provide a complete medical examination to address any medical issues that may manifest themselves as a behavioural abnormality. For example, a cat that urinates on the carpet may be suffering from a urinary tract disease and may not be able to get to the litter box in time. Likewise, a dog that nips when he or she is picked up could be suffering from abdominal pain or arthritis. If your veterinarians examination determines that there is no underlying medical cause, the problem may be exclusively behavioural. Depending on the nature of the problem there are several treatments combined with training techniques that could help, and oral treatments that range from nutritional supplements to drugs which affect brain chemistry. A detailed discussion of your pets behaviour with your veterinarian will help determine the most effective treatment for your pet.
